Food Bills

Everybody has to eat, and more often than not, we like to eat out. Most of us aren't foodies or culinary experts, We just like good food at a decent price.

This blog is all about eating out in Chicago, generally not at the trendy places, the hoi polloi fancy spots or the big chains.

I'm definitely not a foodie, just a hard working guy that likes good food and I'm going to share my dining experiences with you. Hopefully it will give you the food layperson's view on Chicago spots. To keep your food bills in check.

I will also Include some “food news” about places located in my “hood” up on the Far North Side of Chicago and Evanston.

I do travel a lot as well, so I will also include a little page with some food notes from my travels!

Cyrano's Farm Kitchen

Farm Fresh Food

I was never a fan of French cuisine, until I met Chef Didier at his place on Wells and Ohio.

I went there for a private event and had my first real experience.  during the social hour, with some very good wine, we had an assortment of pate and crusty breads.  I have to say, some of the pate was awesome, some I can do without.  But overall, a very enjoyable experience.

The rest of the 4 course dinners I have had there are nothing short of excellent.  Chicken in wine (I cant spell it in French) was killer, also the goat chop and goat brats were excellent as well.  Additionally all of the other courses and cheeses were well worth the visit.

Finally, the desserts!  Pictures to the right, an Armagnac flambe fire cake, which was to die for!

Absolutely a date place and the prices are very decent for what you get.  I understand that the chef owns a farm near by in Indiana or Michigan and much of what he cooks he gets from his farm or other local farms.  You cant beat that!

I highly recommend Cyrano's for an excellent French  experience.
