Food Bills

Everybody has to eat, and more often than not, we like to eat out. Most of us aren't foodies or culinary experts, We just like good food at a decent price.

This blog is all about eating out in Chicago, generally not at the trendy places, the hoi polloi fancy spots or the big chains.

I'm definitely not a foodie, just a hard working guy that likes good food and I'm going to share my dining experiences with you. Hopefully it will give you the food layperson's view on Chicago spots. To keep your food bills in check.

I will also Include some “food news” about places located in my “hood” up on the Far North Side of Chicago and Evanston.

I do travel a lot as well, so I will also include a little page with some food notes from my travels!

Ward Eight - Evanston

Great Neighborhood Place

A little local place I hit up at least every other week or so.

It is an oasis in an area I would not necessarily go to, the Howard Street Business District.  The area has cleaned up a bit, parking is easy and Ward Eight, plus the New BBQ place next door have really picked the area up!

The drink menu is awesome, but their food, small plates and sandwiches are really good.  The photo is for the Brussel Sprouts and a Single Malt Scotch.  The Sprouts are to die for!

A great price all around and the staff is awesome!  the place gets SUPER busy on weekends, so be prepared to stand.  Come early and claim a spot.

Palm Court at the Drake - Magnificent Mile

More for the Music than the Food

Tomato and Artichoke Burrata

No Pic, because that would be tacky at this place!  I go, because I LOVE the Flat Cats Swing Jazz band and they play the Palm Court once a month or so.

http://www.flatcatsmusic.com/

I arrived a little after 8 and ordered a Riesling and a tomato and artichoke Burrata, which was really tasty!  Toss in a Glenlivet 12 year Single Malt, later a coffee, add on the parking and it was a pricey evening, but Once in a while I can handle a whopping FOOD BILL, to enjoy life.  Good People watching, nice light menu and a great scotch list.

Want a perfect date and dont mind forking out a few bucks, you should hit the Palm Court up on Flat Cats night!
